Our Excursion to the Zoo
By Louis G
In Week 10, Mrs Messina, Mrs Poustie, Kazie and all the Year 10s went to the Perth Zoo to see all the animals.
First, we went on the Buswest bus at 9.15am. I felt happy and excited. When we arrived at the zoo the teachers told us what we need to do. The Year 10s are studying primates eg orangutangs, gibbons, and baboons. I am studying the diet of the animals and putting the animals into some groups - carnivores, herbivores, omnivores, and insectivores.
First, we saw the gibbons. Male gibbons are black and females are light brown. Next, we saw the lioness. The lioness was a blonde colour. Its roar was scary because she got close to people. The lion is my favourite animal. After that we saw the orangutan giving us a show. He was putting a blanket over his head. He made me laugh. Next, we saw the tall giraffe eating the tree. Giraffes are herbivores. A giraffe is very tall with brown spots.
We saw the wild dog. The wild dog is a beige and black colour. It was a medium size dog. Next, we went to see the elephant. The elephant is a huge, gigantic grey animal with a long trunk. It was eating a branch of a tree. It is a herbivore.
After that we enjoyed having lunch on the grass in the shade. After lunch we went into the penguin enclosure. We saw eight penguins. They are black and white with an orange beak. Some are in the water some are out of the water. Next ,we saw the Komodo dragon. The Komodo dragon came right up to us. It has a forked tongue shape. And moves very slowly.
In the end we went back on the bus back to Carmel Senior High School. I had a wonderful day at Perth Zoo with the Year 10s.听
