Carmel students support JNF's Green Sunday telethon
Every year, JNF WA hosts a Green Sunday Telethon to coincide with Tu B鈥檚hvat, the new year for the trees. And every year, JNF WA knows they can count on Carmel High school students to volunteer for this important fundraiser. On Sunday, 11 February, a number of Carmel High School students took the time to make calls to the community to help raise funds to restore the Be鈥檈ri Forest.
On the 7th October 2023, thousands of young people gathered in the Be鈥檈ri Forest to dance in peace at the Nova music festival. Today, the decimated communities of the Gaza Envelope stand desolate, much of their local forests reduced to ashes.
As the largest forest in the Western Negev, 2,800 acres of land, The Be鈥檈ri Forest is also a vital ecosystem to the region. There are over 375,263 visitors annually and over 232,389 cyclists who enjoy the various bike paths around the forest. In winter, red anemone flowers cover the forest, drawing thousands of tourists to the area.
JNF is grateful to many in the community for answering JNF鈥檚 call and donating to this important campaign and doing their part to help rebuild Israel鈥檚 southern border.
JNF WA warmly thanks students from Carmel High School, as well as AUJS, Bnei Akiva and Habonim Dror youth movement representatives, members of JNF WA鈥檚 committee and supporters, who gave up their time to make phone calls to the community.
Green Sunday represents our community at its best, working together to replant and rebuild Israel. If you would still like to donate to the Green Sunday appeal, please visit or call the JNF office on 9275-2761.
Am Israel Chai.
